kikki.K × frankie magazine
A 16-page paper project created for frankie magazine.
For kikki.K’s collaboration with frankie magazine, I designed and illustrated a 16-page Paper Project created for frankie’s summer bumper issue.
The finished project included an illustrated paper doll and wardrobe, junk-journalling and collage elements, letters, horoscopes and a collection of smaller paper pieces designed to be cut out, kept and used.
A big part of the design process was thinking beyond how each spread looked on the page and considering how someone would actually interact with it. The illustrations and paper pieces needed to work within the magazine first, but they also had to make sense once they were cut out, moved around, collected or turned into something new.
The result was a playful, hands-on piece of editorial design that sat somewhere between a magazine insert, activity book and collection of paper ephemera, giving readers something they could pull apart and make their own.
